Gingerbread

Fall brings back the use of the oven for wonderful-smelling treats like this one.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup molasses
3 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon each cinnamon and ginger
3/4 teaspoon cloves
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups hot water

Method:

Cream sugar and butter together.
Beat in the egg.
Beat in the molasses.
Sift the dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture.
Stir in the hot water.

Scrape batter into a greased 9x13 pan.
Bake at 350* for 35 minutes.
May be served with whipped cream.
